CYCLES

This photograph was taken after the machine had
carried out a single complete cycle. On the
next cycle the cleaned paths would be slightly offset and on the third cycle the tank
would be completely cleaned. It is possible to vary the width of the jet to suit the tank,
the residues and the cleaning medium. Cycle times depend on pressure, and the higher
the pressure the faster the cycles. In general with a pressure of about 10 bar each cycle
takes 10 minutes giving a total cleaning time of 30 minutes.
Incidentally in this case the residue is conventional Oil Based
Mud and the cleaning medium is base oil.
In all cases the residues are less likely to remain on the
bulkheads If they are coated, preferably with epoxy paint. The problems of maintaining mud
tanks in a clean condition are reduced by a proper structured approach to the problem.
